How Long Does Recovery Take?

Eye brow lift procedure is an outpatient surgery, so most patients are able to go home the same day. However, there is some recovery time needed for an eyebrow lift in our San Antonio TX practice. Patients can generally expect some swelling and tenderness around the incision sites for about a week after the procedure. After that point, swelling should reduce significantly and a small amount of makeup can usually be used to cover up any remaining bruising as the area finishes healing.

What Results Can You Expect?

With an eye brow lift, some results will be immediate. For example, with an endoscopic brow lift, you should be able to see a noticeable difference right after the procedure. However, as swelling subsides and bruising heals, the results will gradually become more prominent. In most cases, full results can be enjoyed after a couple of months. Looking at brow lift before and after photos is a good way to see the results that others have been able to achieve in the past.

Are There Any Potential Risks?

An experienced plastic surgeon can perform a minimally invasive brow lift to minimize risks and potential side effects. However, no surgical procedure—including a forehead brow lift—can be done without potential risks. Some possible side effects to be aware of with a brow lift include:

  • infection
  • scarring
  • blood clots (hematoma)
  • skin discoloration
  • nerve damage
  • bruising

What Happens During the Procedure?

A surgical brow lift (also commonly referred to as an endoscopic brow lift) involves making three small incisions—one on each side, and one along the midline of the scalp. From there, extremely narrow surgical telescopes are inserted into the incisions and used to lift sagging brows and better position the brows overall. The entire lateral brow lift procedure is performed while the patient is under general anesthesia, and the entire surgery typically takes one to two hours to complete.
